What is Deep Drawing

Metal deep drawing is the use of stamping, ring pull or metal mold process to deform the plate-shaped metal material into a cylindrical or box-shaped part.

Deep drawing technology is widely used in the production process, and deep drawing is used in many industries. For example, it can be used to produce auto parts in the automotive industry; it can also be used to make household products, such as stainless steel kitchen sinks.

Different materials have different tensile properties. The limit of the drawing rate is the ratio of the blank diameter to the punching diameter. Stainless steel materials are controlled at 2.1 to 2.2 and carbon steels are controlled at 2.15 to 2.5.

Stainless steel materials can be deep-drawn a second time after deep-drawing, but unlike carbon steel materials, stainless steel materials usually cannot be stretched to the same degree as the first time unless they are heat-treated.

The strength of the equipment required for stainless steel materials is 1 to 2 times that of carbon steel equipment. Generally speaking, it is best to use double-acting hydraulic equipment for deep drawing.
